For those families who prefer cremation, it is important to realize that you have several options to choose from. Selecting cremation does not place any limitations on your choice of funeral services. You may choose what type of gathering is to be held: a funeral or a memorial service.

There are five basic types of services to choose from:

Public viewing/visitation and traditional funeral ceremony followed by cremation.
Private family viewing and private funeral ceremony followed by cremation.
Cremation of the deceased followed by a public memorial service.
Private family viewing followed by cremation.
Cremation with no ceremony. This is often referred to as direct cremation.
